Jericho has been canceled for a 2nd time. Does this mean it wasn't a good show? Oh quite the opposite! This is/was a great show with talented writers and actors.
Then what happened? .. you ask.
Well. It seems that CBS, although tauting Jericho to be more then just a TV show and wanting to do interactive web as well with it, felt the only way they were going to "count" who was watching was to go by the numbers Nielsen gave them. Sadly many, many Jericho viewers were more of the modern age viewers. You know, the ones who TiVo, download from iTunes, watch on the CBS Jericho website, watch On-Demand from comcast and/or watch the show at it's regular scheduled TV time. Sadly - only the approximately 6.5 million viewers that Nielsen counted were the ones CBS took note of. All the downloads, TiVo, Comcast, etc viewers were not counted. So, a very good show is now looking for a new home on a network that feels these dedicated viewers should not be over looked and should be counted..
What can you do to help?... you ask.
Great question! You can go to the CBS Jericho Board or the Sci-Fi Jericho Board and you can help by writing to the following addresses and by helping with the Nuts to Nielsen campaign. All contacts are listed below. Anything you choose to do to will help - all I ask is that, please, if you are a fan of Jericho don't sit back and wait to see what is going to happen - reach out and make it happen - help to find Jericho a new home - and, if you choose, help to show Nielsen we are not happy with not being counted!
And if you are not a fan of Jericho (yet) - why not go to the CBS board and watch an episode or two or three or .. and see why we are all so nuts about this show... then come and join us and help us fight! Let's make history together ....
